A Messy Church is held from 9.00am to around 10.30am on the 3rd Sunday of each month. We begin with breakfast and then take part in a variety of informal hands-on activities to help us learn about the Christian faith together. We have lots of fun and we make lots of mess!
Morning worship begins at 10.30am and coffee or tea and biscuits are served following the service.
Evening worship begins at 6.30pm.
Our Sunday services held at 10.30am and 6.30pm are usually led by our minister, by one of the Methodist Local Preachers who are part of the Darley Dale congregation or by visiting ministers or preachers. The content and style of both morning and evening services varies week by week. There is a pattern to our worship, but this will sometimes vary due to special services such as Harvest, Christmas, Easter and Remembrance Sunday. To check out the style of worship each week, please go to the Church and Circuit Diary page of this web site. During our worship, music is usually provided by the organ and through studying the Bible, the spoken word, singing, Holy Communion, images, video presentations and other means we trust that our worship will help us to draw near to God and equip us for Christian living.
We are running two Monday groups for conversation, study and prayer:
A morning group - in the Church Hall, on the 2nd and 4th Mondays at 10am.
An evening group - in the Church, Mondays at 7.30pm.
Having linked in with the ecumenical Lent Groups between Christmas and Easter, our Monday groups will resume again after Easter for a series of five sessions linked to the Bible Month material about Jonah that has been produced by the Methodist Church. The planned dates for the Monday groups are a bit spread out, due to bank holidays either clashing, or moving the Ecumenical Communions, but there will be five morning and five evening dates for each group between April and July. The morning group meets in the hall and the evening group meets in the church. For the date of the next meeting, please visit the Church and Circuit Diary page.
For more information, please contact Robert, our minister, using the contact form.
There is a “Coffee and Chat” group which meets in the Church Hall at 10am.
The Evergreen Club meets in the Church Hall at 2.00pm. (Since the club can only cater for a maximum of 40, there is currently a waiting list of people wishing to join).
A Home Group (Buddies) for all ages meets fortnightly at 7.30pm.
Darley Hillside Choir have a practice at 6.30pm, new members welcome.
An informal Singing Group meets in the Church on the first Wednesday of each month at 8.00pm. During our time together, we practice some of the new hymns and songs in our new "Singing the Faith" Methodist hymn book to help us to expand our repertoire. People from other churches already come along and more singers and musicians are always welcome.
